Bill could prevent police from seizing condoms from prostitutes as evidence

A new bill is making its way through Albany that would prevent police from seizing condoms from alleged prostitutes as evidence.

Supporters of the bill say police confiscate condoms when making a prostitution arrest so they can be used as evidence, but most times when the prostitutes are released from jail they go right back to “working” without protection.

A similar bill has been introduced every year in Albany since 1999, but has consistently failed to make it out of committee.
