LaSalle branch of Library gets cool fixin’

The “cool” engineers from the City of Niagara Falls had the Air Conditioning up and running before the article saying things were getting hot ran in the Niagara Gazette.

Library still dealing with AC issues

City residents looking to stay cool won’t be able to go to the LaSalle Branch Library.

The air conditioner at the building has been broken since Friday but the Department of Public Works is working on fixing the issue Michelle Petrazzoulo, director of the city’s library system, said. The branch will remain open.

Falls councilman’s salary hike draws outrage

As the city and its water plant edge closer to financial crisis, a Niagara Falls city councilman who has advocated for fiscal restraint will take a nearly 10 percent raise at his water plant maintenance job.

The raise for Councilman Glenn A. Choolokian was approved Thursday by the Niagara Falls Water Board, whose members are appointed by city and state leaders.

The pay jump drew heated opposition from two board members who characterized the move as the latest political stunt in a city with a long history of them.
