State supports restaurant project

The state’s development arm in the Falls is helping a Third Street restaurant finance a makeover.

The board of directors for the USA Niagara Development Corp. voted unanimously Thursday to approve a $20,000 reimbursement grant for a street facade and retail restoration project at Zakia Indian Cuisine, with a price tag of $90,000.

Shot fired in an armed robbery in Falls

The rash of armed robberies in the city continued with another armed robbery reported Wednesday. City detectives have been called to investigate nearly half a dozen armed robberies in the city over the past two months.

Three dead in two separate automobile crashes

Three persons were killed in two separate crashes Wednesday on Western New York highways.

Two drivers from Wilson died after a three-vehicle collision just before 4 p.m. on Wilson-Burt Road in Niagara County, and a Clarendon man was killed when he was thrown from his pickup truck in a crash about 9 a.m. on Route 262 in Byron, Genesee County.

The victims in the Niagara County crash were identified as Ronald Zauner, 69; and Cathy World, 58; both of Wilson.
