The Niagara Beautification Commission awarded this “fabulous ” Falls Femme Decor” trio its March 2014 SPOTLIGHT AWARD. The girls have always known of one another, but haven’t gotten to work on many projects together until recently. Craig Avery approached Brook about decorating the windows of Third Street in vacant buildings that he and his business partners are renovating. He asked for “Macy’s style” windows to brighten up the street, and the inaugural theme would be Christmas and the winter holidays. Craig and Brook wrapped each window in paper to hide the work that would be going on behind the scenes, and thus creating a grand reveal when the paper was taken down in early December.
Brook asked Mary Grace to lend her vision to a double window display, while Brook would work on the remaining 4 windows that encompassed two buildings. It seemed to be an insurmountable task for the two of them, and they knew they needed a third creative mind.
One night, Brook sent a text message to Danielle, asking her to show up to 454 Third Street, wearing warm clothes that she wouldn’t be afraid to get dirty in. Though Brook gave no other details of what they would be doing at 10pm, Danielle didn’t question her and agreed to come! Danielle’s husband warned her that if we were doing some kind of secret or illegal art display, that she should call her grandfather if we happened to get caught! Of course, he was joking and knew that she was in safe hands. Danielle came to Third Street and all was revealed by Mary Grace and Brook. The three got to work right away and finished their first set of window displays.
Since then, they have done Valentine’s Day themed windows, as well as St. Patrick’s Day themed windows. They have big plans for the future, and are available for hire to create more window displays across Niagara! “The goal is to get these buildings noticed, so that potential business owners know these gems are for rent,” says Brook. She won’t be heartbroken when she is minus a window to decorate on Third Street. That means the mission for that space has been accomplished! Check out Falls Femme Decor on Facebook!
