Water repairs to affect Cayuga Island

Hospitals face off to raise money for cancer research

Skaters from Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and Mount St. Mary’s Hospital and Health Center faced off Friday at the Hyde Park Ice Pavilion in a spirited contest to raise money for cancer research.  Proceeds from the game, won 6-2 by Memorial Medical Center, will be donated to Susan G. Komen for cancer research and support Memorial radiologist Dr. David Ludwig’s Boston Marathon fundraising run for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Judge tosses out drug indictment because of ‘racial profiling’ in Falls traffic stop

Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III threw out a drug indictment against two men Friday, accusing a Niagara Falls police officer of engaging in “racial profiling” for a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of drugs.

Murphy said repeatedly he didn’t believe the testimony Officer Thomas V. Rodriguez gave in a pretrial hearing.
