Early this fall we went to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, which is another city along the west end of Lake Ontario. It’s an hour’s drive from Niagara Falls. Although Hamilton has a reputation for it’s industry and the steel mills are visible on the drive along the QEW;  it is also well known for McMaster University. Most people don’t think of Hamilton as a tourist town, but you might just be surprised as to what it has to offer. So come explore with us…

Attorney to pay Niagara SPCA cat adoption fees until day before Thanksgiving

A Niagara County attorney, who hopes others will be inspired by the story of his two rescued cats, said Monday he will pay the adoption fee for any cat or kitten adopted from the Niagara County SPCA until the day before Thanksgiving.

Falls economic development department, public library face big cuts in Dyster’s proposed 2015 budget

Representatives of the city’s Planning and Economic Development department and the public library system discussed cuts to their respective budgets in Mayor Paul Dyster’s proposed spending plan for 2015 with members of the city council Friday afternoon.

Tom DeSantis, the city’s senior planner, told the council that a 25 percent cut to his budget, largely achieved through the elimination of two positions, would put further stress on his department at a time when many economic development opportunities are popping up in the region…
