Pinner Becomes Winner in Tourism Contest

Niagara Tourism & Convention Corporation selects #PerfectDayNF winner

Visiting Niagara Falls USA was something Lisa Powers and her family did because it was “in their backyard” and when she began dating her now husband they would frequently visit. She always wanted to see it again, but never got the chance – until now.

She entered the contest after stumbling upon it, browsing through Pinterest. “We’ve always wanted to see Niagara Falls USA because there is so much to do there,” Powers said. “I am very excited and cannot wait to enjoy this perfect day with him.”

Throughout February, pinners needed to follow Niagara Falls USA on Pinterest (pinterest.com/niagarafallsusa) and create an “A Perfect Day in Niagara USA” board. Then submit their entry via Facebook/niagarafallsusa. Powers was chosen on the basis of creativity, positive representation of Niagara USA and its uniqueness.

Powers board included 10 of her favorite attractions, including the Niagara Aerospace Museum, Old Fort Niagara, Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA, Cave of the Winds, Observation Tower Deck, Rainbow Air, Inc.; Twist O’ the Mist, Aquarium of Niagara, Red Coach Inn, Maid of the Mist, Whirlpool Jet Boat Tour, and Top of the Falls restaurant.

In addition to her “perfect day” Powers will also receive a $250 Visa Gift Card.

“Utilizing Pinterest this winter expanded our visibility. Hundreds of potential visitors created their ‘perfect day in Niagara USA’ boards, and we hope they all make them come true this year,” said John Percy, NTCC CEO & president. “We look forward to welcoming Lisa Powers and her husband, and seeing her vision become a reality.”

White Lion Studios Releasing Found Footage Movie

Movie will Detail a Murder Mystery in Hartland, N.Y. in 2010

White Lion Studios Inc., a local film and production company, will be releasing the world premiere of its newest film: “Wolf House” at 9:30 p.m. on April 15, at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda.

The film is a “found footage” movie detailing a mysterious murder spree in which six friends go missing while on a camping trip in Hartland, N.Y. Cameras found on the scene of the crime show the graphic details of what happened to these campers. The film is a part of the Buffalo Niagara Film Festival.

The synopsis of the film is as follows: “In October 2010, six friends went on a camping trip in Hartland, N.Y. They were never heard from again. Footage recovered at the site of the murders has been pieced together to show the last terrifying hours of their lives.” A producer for the film, Ken Cosentino, commented on the film “the film promises monsters and lots of scares, there’s also a certain level of deep emotion being portrayed by those in the film. It will scare the living daylights out of you and tug on your heartstrings.”

The film will premiere at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday April 15 at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda. The theater can be found at 67 Webster Street. Tickets are priced $10 for general admission and $5 for students, seniors, and veterans.
“Wolf House” will be the last in a series of films to be played during day six of the Buffalo Niagara Film Festival.
