Historic Lewiston News – upcoming events & festivals

See what’s going on in Lewiston this summer

Hundreds of volunteers are busy preparing for Lewiston’s upcoming “prime time” season when our small town blossoms into Western New York’s cultural centerpiece, welcoming thousands of visitors from all over the world. The stage has been set and it’s going to be another banner year for Artpark and the festivals.

“8 Miracles that saved America” program featured at the Historical Association annual meeting

The Historical Association of Lewiston presents “Eight Miracles that Saved America” at its once-a-year organizational meeting on May 28. There will be elections to our volunteer board and you’ll get updates on our latest programs, museum projects and reports.

After the brief business meeting, it will be time to sit back and enjoy a fascinating presentation by Lee Simonson, a local author and former president of the Historical Association. He’ll discuss eight amazing events that took place from 1755 to 1942, all involving strange and mysterious circumstances, unusual twists and turns, and totally unexpected outcomes.

Some of the things that happened are more like Ripley’s Believe It or Not, but each provided a critical tipping point in America’s creation and survival. Did God have a hand in America’s success? Listen to the evidence and then decide for yourself if miracles really happened. This special evening is a free event that is open to all. Refreshments will be served including wine, light hors d’oeuvres and dessert.

Come and join us for a night of history and fellowship at 7pm, Thursday, May 28, at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, 915 Oneida Street, right here in the Village of Lewiston.

Artists’ studios tour and art walk

Lewiston artist, Michelle Marcotte, is organizing an exciting new marketing and sales opportunity for artists in the area. An “Artists’ Studios Tour and Art Walk ” will be held on October 10. The plan is to jointly promote local artistic studios (many in homes) that are open for visitors, and to organize artists who may prefer to display or demonstrate their work in space provided by local businesses. Artists can also host other artists at their studios or homes. This will be a great opportunity for everyone to learn about local artistic talent, while at the same time enabling the artists to develop relationships with clients and local businesses. A flyer and map are being developed so that visitors and residents can drive or walk to see the artist studios or the artists at work in local businesses.

If you are interested in being part of this new event, call Michelle Marcotte at 716-299-0442. Or you can email her at: marcotteconsulting@gmail.com
