PATIENCE

When hoping for gifts in life, patience has never been at the top of my checklist. I could think of much grander and more appealing gifts, such as confidence, accomplishment, poise, or perhaps fortitude. These give solid results. But patience only hints at the difficulties one need endure to achieve it, and that’s not very appealing.

It starts off as a small thing, this patience does; a little seed in the palm of your hand, placed in the ground, dead and buried, even forgotten through the long, harsh and impatient winter. But when finally it does sprout a tiny little head, hope comes along with it; a friendly sidekick. Then these two ‘buds’, grow together, side by side, nourishing each another
