Leading WNY Tourism Agencies Achieve Destination Marketing Accreditation

Niagara Tourism & Convention Corporation and Visit Buffalo Niagara have satisfied the rigorous standards set forth by the professional destination marketing community

[Press Release]

Niagara Tourism & Convention Corporation (NTCC) and Visit Buffalo Niagara have been awarded accreditation from the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP). Eleven destination marketing organizations (DMOs) have recently been accredited under Destination Marketing Association International’s (DMAI) DMAP.

The DMAP seal illustrates a DMO’s commitment to industry excellence and to raising the performance and accountability of DMOs around the world.

“Having the DMAP seal signifies the continuing, growing value of being destination marketers in Niagara County. This accreditation also gives credibility to what NTCC does on a daily basis,” said John Percy, NTCC CEO & president. “NTCC will continue to execute best practices as established by DMAI to further continue tourism growth throughout the county.”

“This accreditation validates the hard work Visit Buffalo Niagara undertakes daily to promote the transformative renaissance Buffalo is experiencing,” Visit Buffalo Niagara President and CEO Patrick Kaler said. “By receiving this accreditation, VBN is committing to the best practices industrywide to market Buffalo as an exciting visitor destination.”

To become accredited, a DMO must demonstrate compliance across 16 disciplines, and successfully comply with 58 mandatory and 30 voluntary standards in areas that include governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development and research. DMAP is globally recognized by the destination marketing industry as the highest achievement in destination excellence.

Since January 2007, over 200 DMOs have earned their accreditation. Two New York State DMOs recently renewed their accreditation.
