Old Falls Street – What’s the Buzz about? [by 2chicks2go]

Niagara Falls, New York has been experiencing a tremendous upswing in the amount of tourists coming around, this 2015 season. As a matter of fact, tourism is up somewhere near 200% since 2014! That’s quite the statistic.

http://www.twcnews.com/nys/buffalo/news/2015/09/1/record-tourism-numbers-for-summers-end-in-niagara.html

There are varied reasons for this, and if you’re curious, feel free to click the above link. (Let’s just say the park has had a face lift, and some new money has come into the city).

One of the places that is showing off a bit, is Old Falls Street, adjacent to the Reservation State Park (where the actual Falls are).

So what’s been going on there, exactly? [CLICK HERE TO READ MORE!]

NFNY Veterans Monument celebrates USAF birthday

[Press Release]

The Niagara Falls Veterans Memorial Monument Commission will celebrate the United States Air Force’s birthday at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015 by striking colors and re-raising them with the USAF flag, which will fly for one week in honor of our flying force.

The ceremony will take place at the monuments on Pine Avenue (US-62) at Hyde Park Boulevard (NY61) and Robbins Drive in Niagara Falls’ Hyde Park. A USAF Honor Guard will perform the ceremonies.

A USAF birthday cake and coffee will constitute refreshments for the brief event.

The Commission will celebrate all Military Branches birthdays in similar fashion with Friday, October 13th being the Navy’s birthday.

The USAF have played a tremendous role in both the history and the economy of Niagara Falls and all of western New York, as well as playing a key role in the defense of our country and freedom around the world. With the Niagara Falls Air Base being a key employer in the area, the very presence of the USAF and its Guard Units have increased the quality of life for many who have not only enjoyed the thrilling airshows, but also being good residential neighbors in so many of our communities.

The Niagara Falls Veterans Memorial Monument Commission wishes each and every member of our United States Air Force a wholeheartedly HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
