LaSalle Senior High School Alumni News & Events

Last February, we held our first RELIVE THE REC reuniting MYOPIC VOID to headline a great evening of music, friendship and community support. Your participation and donations helped us to begin the LaSalle High School Alumni Association as an avenue to keep LaSalle High School alive and well. With over 430 people attending, we donated 90lbs of food to the Heart, Love and Soul Food Pantry and provided monetary support to WNY UNYTS, in memory of Officer Thomas Shumway, who many of us remember from the original REC at the YMCA in LaSalle. We also contributed to The Casey House, LaSalle Preparatory School Honor Society, Niagara Falls Children’s Advocacy Center and the Magdalena Project.

In October, we hosted a Spaghetti Dinner/Night at the Races. Approximately 85 people attended and we had a delicious meal and a lot of fun. Proceeds from this event were donated to the Niagara Falls Firefighters Toy Fund, Niagara Falls Community Missions, and two alumni of LaSalle High School with much needed support during the holiday season.

OUR LSHS Alumni Association will continue to host entertaining events for all alumni to gather, reminisce and enjoy. We will also continue to give back to the community through monetary donations and service. We have partnered with LaSalle Preparatory School (LPS) on Buffalo Avenue. This made sense since it was the first LaSalle High School, it was LaSalle Junior High School and now it is the only school with the LaSalle name. We have hopes of working together on combined projects and events in the future.

Currently we help out with their PLUTO’S CLOSET, a second-hand shop for students to purchase needed clothing, school supplies, sporting equipment, etc. for only $1. PLUTO’s accepts donations of any new or used clean and functional items appropriate for children and young teens. Students volunteer and manage the shop under supervision, learning life-time working skills with opportunities of obtaining quality and needed items as an award or for minimal cost.

We currently have a committee of 10-15 members who meet monthly on the third Thursday of each month at the LaSalle Preparatory School. We hope more alumni members like you will come to our meetings and join one or more of our committees.

Sign the guest book with your name and email address if you are interested. We are also looking for 4-5 people to be on our Board of Directors to oversee our operations. We are growing and still determining short and long term goals, but have definitely decided to host the REC dance every year in February. By popular demand, this year we will also host a summer outdoor music event. We plan to have one or more fundraising activities this spring/summer to deter some of the costs of this event.
