SAL II

Members of the Surgery Department at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center recently celebrated the arrival of “SAL II,” the medical center’s new daVinci® XI™ Robotic Surgical System.  The XI™, a product of Intuit Surgical, represents a major advance over the daVinci® SI™ System in use at Memorial since 2012.  It will be used across a wide spectrum of minimally invasive surgical procedures for complex diseases and conditions in gynecology, urology, thoracic, bariatric and general surgery. On hand to welcome SAL II were, from left, anesthesiologist Dr. Justin Eckler, Intuitive representative Tori Schmitz, Carol DiBella R.N.F.A., Tina Owens R.N., Surgical Services Director Shelly Meigs, R.N., CNOR Director Michelle Garvey, R.N., and Dr. Venkat Kolli, Memorial’s chief of surgery.  SAL, which stands for Save A Life, was named by then fifth-grader Gabriella Baratta in a countywide naming contest for schoolchildren.

Historic Holy Trinity’s Summer Recital and Polish Dinner

Historic Holy Trinity, located at 1419 Falls St. in Niagara Falls, NY, is having their annual fundraising event with a summer recital and Polish dinner on Sunday, August 7, 2016. Performance by students from Gary Sage Studios begins at 4:00 pm, with doors opening at 3:30 pm. The recital will take place in the beautiful interior of the church that once served the Polish community on the city’s east side. This event will be followed by a Polish Dinner at Gadawski’s Restaurant, located next door to the church at 1445 Falls St. The Polish dinner includes golombki, perogi, Polish sausage, sauerkraut, coffee/tea, dessert and a cash bar. A children’s dinner of chicken fingers and fries will be available for those 12 and under ($10). Tickets are $25 per person for dinner and recital together or a $10 good will offering to attend just the recital. A $5 good will offering for children 12-15 and free for ages 11 and under to attend the recital only. Advance purchase for dinner required by August 2. Tickets available at Gadawski’s Restaurant and at Historic Holy Trinity on Friday’s between 6 – 8 pm during Historic Church Tours as well as in our Community Thrift Store on Saturday’s between 10 am – 1pm or by calling 716/299-0799.

The complex is listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places and includes the 1905 church, 1914 school, 1907 rectory, 1910 convent and carriage house/garage.

Historic Holy Trinity is a 501©3 nonprofit organization that is run under the auspices of Niagara Heritage of Hope and Service. Its main mission is to restore and maintain the 1901 parish which was once Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church.
