Balabans LLC – Located in the Park Place Historic District neighborhood – is organizing the inaugural #PorchFestNiagara as their contribution to the occasion. PorchFest is a grassroots music festival that turns porches into stages for local bands and musicians that originated in 2007 in Ithaca, NY (http://www.porchfest.org) The goal is to celebrate the spectacular architecture, especially the “verandas” of the area with mostly acoustic music and plants. All artists understand this is a free, volunteer-run event, and onlookers are encouraged to tip them to keep the local music scene alive. The residents of the diverse neighborhood look forward to showing off their homes, porches and gardens in the area that is sometimes overlooked due to the location bordering downtown. In addition, self-guided tour brochures will be available providing an overview of the district as well as some nearby buildings. The event is Saturday, July 23rd from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Free trolley service will operate in a continuous loopd during the 2016 Garden Walk Niagara, (https://niagarafallsgardenwalk.com/)
