Mayor Dyster Announces Appointment of Lisa Vitello to City Clerk Position

Mayor Paul A. Dyster announced the appointment of Lisa Vitello to the position of Niagara Falls City Clerk on Wednesday. Vitello brings nearly 30 years of experience to the position having served in her current position in the city’s finance division; and her involvement in various community organizations including serving as Chair of the Niagara Falls Tourism Advisory Board, and as a member of the city’s Planning Board and the Bi-National Illumination Board.

Mayor Dyster said, “I am pleased to appoint Ms. Vitello to the position of Niagara Falls City Clerk. An active and dedicated member of our community, her ability to implement meaningful and effective change as evidenced by her involvement in multiple community organizations, will only help our city to continue to grow and build upon the invaluable work already carried out by the clerk’s office. I have no doubt that Ms. Vitello will faithfully and effectively take on the duties of her new position, and look forward to a collaborative relationship for the good of the residents of the City of Niagara Falls moving forward.”

Pending her appointment as City Clerk, Vitello will resign her position on the City Planning Board and her City Council-appointed position as Chair of the Tourism Advisory Board. She will retain her seat on that board, and on the Bi-National Illumination Board. In addition, Vitello has volunteered to lead a mayoral taskforce designed to begin work on preparations for the celebration of the 2017-2018 holiday season, as the city marks the 125th anniversary of its incorporation.

Vitello joined the city’s finance division in 2013 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and graduate degree in Education from Niagara University and Canisius College, respectively. An active member of the community she has served as a member of the Niagara Heritage Partnership since 1990.
