Falls YMCA on the move, will phase out its residential services by the beginning of 2016

Council OKs Modern garbage contract for city

Man talked out of falls rapids by park police

New York State Park Police say it took them about 40 minutes to talk a “highly intoxicated” man out of the fast flowing waters of the Niagara River rapids on Saturday afternoon.

Officers responded, just after 2 p.m., to a call of a man standing in the rapids, just off of Three Sisters Island. Witnesses said the man had just “walked into the water” which was up to his thighs…

First look at Niagara Falls High School’s new sports fields

Recently thawed out and ready for a quick look-see before the next big snow storm, the Wolverines take the field for the first time this year. Baseball is right around the corner and the NFHS Varsity Baseball team looks eager to get started.  Between the melting snow mounds and general grayness of the lingering winter season, you can see how the fields are laid out and what the new synthetic turf looks like and almost smell the peanuts and crackerjacks… play ball!

Winter taking toll on Niagara County salt supply

Winter has certainly taken a toll, with subzero freezing temperatures and roughly 90 inches of snow falling on the Buffalo Niagara Falls region so far this season, according to the National Weather Service.

Local highway and public works departments have had to pay attention to things such as overtime costs and equipment upkeep. And they’ve also had to keep a close eye on their rock salt, used for deicing the wintery roads…

Developers await final funding on Marriott project in Niagara Falls
