Winter weather advisory in effect this afternoon

It took a while for winter to get here, but now it’s making up for lost time.

For the second time this week, there’s a winter weather advisory in effect today, and this time it promises to bring a couple inches of snow to Niagara County and it should mess with the ride home from work.

“We’re going to have a frontal boundary come through the region this afternoon and that’s going to bring a fairly decent burst of snow in the late afternoon into this evening,” said Kirk Apffel of the service. “The problem with this is the timing is rather poor for the evening commute as it may bring this snow and some wind during the commute to Niagara County.”

The forecast is for winds gusting as high as 40 miles an hour and two to four inches of accumulation, according to Apffel. Tonight will bring another inch of two.
