Militello out, Dumphrey in as Niagara-Wheatfield superintendent

With a budget deficit climbing and complaints from the staff mounting, Niagara-Wheatfield superintendent Carl Militello resigned on Wednesday.

Last month, members of the Niagara-Wheatfield School Related Personnel Association picketed for Militello’s resignation, claiming he had bullied the staff.

Militello had been in the post since 2008.

The problems haven’t gone away, the district is still facing a deficit of more than $10 million when its budget comes due in three months.

The Wheatfield school board then appointed Business Manager Kerin Dumphrey to the post of interim superintendent.
