Therapists, social workers sign deal with Memorial

Employees at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center approved a new 10-month collective bargaining agreement on Wednesday that covers physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, therapists, and discharge planners.

The 29 employees covered by the agreement are members of 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. The agreement includes a 3 percent wage increase in addition to a 1 percent signing bonus and a joint employer and union Training and Upgrading Education Fund, which allows workers to continue their education.

The contract is the result of four months of bargaining by employee and management negotiating committees.
