SPCA of Niagara sees 30 candidates for board

The SPCA of Niagara got about 30 new candidates as the group held a meeting for potential board members on Monday.

The meeting took place at the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company Hall and all current SPCA members were permitted to nominate up to three candidates.

A nominating committee of nine listened to the names and will meet again on March 27 to pare the list down.

A new board of 15 members will be elected by the SPCA membership during the annual membership meeting in May. Board members will be elected to staggered terms, with five members each serving one-, two- or three-year terms, according to the organization.

I hope the new board fully understands what commitment they are making. I fthey can’t live up to what a BOD member is responsible for, then they are only going to hurt the organizaion of the rebound.
