Wind advisory in effect today, temps will drop

There’s a wind advisory in effect today until 7 p.m.

It’s all part of what should be a wild weather day that will include a high temperature near 80 and winds gusting as high as 50 miles an hour.

Shawn Smith of the National Weather Service said we should see a little bit of everything.

“We’re expecting some very warm temperatures with the approach of a storm system,” Smith said. “We’re looking at gusty winds, too. That’s all ahead of a strong coldfront that should be moving across the area this afternoon.”

After the front moves through, low temperatures in the 40s will follow.

“These storms could produce some damaging wind,” Smith warned.
