Bill would you see if you could find my Mother in your year book ? her name then was Sylvia A. Shewan. I think she would of graduated in 1950 or 51.

The school on Buffalo Ave is now called LaSalle Prep. It used to be LaSalle Junior High…and way back it was the original LaSalle High School after 6th grade all the students from those area elementary schools went to LaSalle on Buffalo Ave. Bill, your mother was in the inaugural yearbook for LASALLE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL…as the building on Buffalo ave then became LASALLE JUNIOR HIGH…get it?…junior high & senior high. Hope that clears up the confusion for you.

My Mother HAD the same class ring but in a smaller scale. She was born in 1932 or 33 and Grad. in 50 or 51 from LaSalle HS on Buffalo Ave. She passed last year so I can’t confirm the exact dates. Our Family lived on Frontier off of 56th. Cool Story and I believe it too.

At the NACC Center in the old NF high school, they have 1950 year books from the Jr-High School when it was on Buffalo Avenue. If you call there, they will look for a male with the last initial of M – you may find him that way. For the ones who aren’t aware, the school on Buffalo Avenue was a 7 – 12 junior & senior high school. When it became overcrowded the new high school was built on Military Road and the Buffalo Ave one remained a junior high school. Call the Board on 66th, they have records going back to 1929……

LaSalle Jr high school was The LaSalle High school My class was the last to graduate from it in 1956. After that it became the jr high and the new LaSalle high opened on Military rd.

That looks just like the class ring my grandmother had from LaSalle–and she was class of 1940 (but of course, hers is a lady’s ring and in my posession–not lost!). I think folks in some of the comments above might be confused over the school. LaSalle High School back then was on Buffalo Ave.–I think it’s a middle school or something today. It’s a building with all sorts of lovely art deco designs on the front of it. She could walk to school from her home on 79th street.

Hope the ring is reunited with its owner–I treasure my grandmother’s LaSalle High ring, just as I treasure her memory.

    Take care,
    Amy

My Mom was in the first class at Lasalle, She has the inaugural yearbook. SchooI was not open in 1950. I call BS on this story.

    • (I asked the same thing… ring founder said it must have been from the Junior High… before it became the “Junior High”) ??

    • Craig E. Avery says:

OK, you got us. NOT! Why in the hell would we make something like this up. Come on over and look at the ring. It says 1950 and it has the LaSalle Insignia. I’m happy for your mother’s education, and I don’t doubt her status in the inaugurial yearbook. But some guy found the ring pictured in the story and we are just trying to find out who’s it is. Sorry if we ruined your day. I think there’s a lot more thingts you can call bullshit on around here than some poor guy whos’ mother probably kicked his butt cause he lost his ring 60 some years ago. OH…. BS are your initials? Nevermind….. C.A.

Lasalle opened in the late 50s, so how could there be a 1950 Lasalle class ring, when the school wouldn’t even be built for another 7 or so years?
