Matthews named general chairman of 2012 Porter Cup

Eric Matthews, co-owner of Lewiston restaurants Brickyard BBQ and Tin Pan Alley, has been named General Chairman of the 2012 Porter Cup Golf Tournament. Jamie Mandell, Sales Director at Endeavor Services Group, will serve as Vice Chairman.

The Porter Cup will attract more than 80 top-ranked amateur players from around the world.

The tournament will take place from Tuesday, July 17 through Saturday, July 21 at the Niagara Falls Country Club. Matthews emphasizes the tournament is open to the public and admission is free.

City Park goes wild Saturday June 2

Hyde Park, in the heart of Niagara Falls, will be a wild scene on Saturday June 2 as the Annual Wildlife Festival sets up adjacent to Robbins Drive near Pine Avenue for a day of fishing fun and educational presentations.

The youth fishing contest, sponsored by the Niagara River Anglers, will be held at Hyde Park Lake from 8am to Noon and the Wildlife Festival exposition will be open from 11 AM to 4 PM. Entertaining and educational presentations will be featured for the entire family.

This fun-filled free public event is made possible through the Great Lakes Experience, Maid of the Mist and the City of Niagara Falls.
