School board elections: All pass except N-W

There wasn’t much controversy yesterday as all the school budgets in Niagara County passed, except for Niagara-Wheatfield. Most passed pretty easily, in fact.

Out of nearly 1,700 votes, Lockport’s budget got nearly 1,200 yes votes. Things were a little closer in the Falls where that budget passed by about 300 votes.

Things didn’t work out as well in Niagara-Wheatfield, where voters turned down a proposed override of the new state tax cap.
More than 2,000 people voted against the measure out of 3,700 ballots … And the district needed 60 percent to override the cap.

Also Royalton-Hartland School District residents passed the Middleport Free Library tax levy. That district will continue to fund more than $100,000 for the library.
