Skelos: Minimum wage bill is D.O.A. in state senate

Republican Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos says an Assembly bill that would raise the state minimum wage is dead on arrival in his chamber.

Skelos won’t rule out passing any minimum wage increase, but says there is no chance the Senate passes Democratic Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s bill that would increase the minimum wage from seven-dollars and 25 cents an hour to eight-dollars and 50 cents.

The Assembly was expected to approve Silver’s bill late Tuesday. Skelos had called Silver’s bill a “jobs-killer.”
