Man jumps over Niagara Falls and survives

A man who police say was trying to commit suicide became what’s believed to be the fourth person since 1960 to go over Niagara Falls and live to tell about it.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon.

According to the Niagara Falls Review, which does an excellent job covering these issues:

Rescuers found the unidentified man at the bottom of the Horseshoe Falls, on the rocks near the Journey Behind the Falls attraction.

Niagara Parks Police and firefighters were called to the area at 10:20 a.m., after receiving unconfirmed reports from tourists that a man had gone over the falls.

After interviewing witnesses, police confirmed the man had gone into the water about 50 metres upriver from the brink of the Horseshoe Falls.
