Hi it is really too bad that Oakwood is doing this they claim they have no money, but when it comes to some type of recognition they act like I really am dead. I no longer do those hertiage interpertations because I asked for a flat rate fee of one hundred dollars and I got yelled in other words i should voulenteer which is what i did all last year so i thought that this year I could at least pay for some costumes and do some more acting so there goes all of my practive and costumes so if you have reason to need a real Annie Edson just let me know Oakwood is more like deadwood it needs new blood and some current finicial fanageling I am looking forward to your movie good luck karen Hodge Russell

Not one word about Oakwood Cemetery and the Oakwood Players the performances they did was fantastic to remind everyone the performances were called “Where the Stunters Rest” What happened to the vedio of Annie Edson Taylor wow she was great you all miss some great acting and hertage interperters the “HUB” must have been asleep!

  3. Glad someone from NF appreciated the review. Yes, it breaks my heart every time I see the Karl Wallenda Death Video. I guess it reminds me of myself; grasping for life but too old to hang on. Thanks Bob.

  4. Jobie—enjoyed your commentary (didn’t know you were the R. Tourist when I replied to your remarks on the Wallenda Retrospective, but I’d have said the same). Your qualifying the standard “Wallenda Cheerleading” squad stance was much appreciated–you’re the only one I know of who noted that “jackoff” near slip, for example (tho I don’t believe he got the whole word out), so you get huge points there. “I’m a jackoff, Praise be to Jesus.”
You get more points re national coverage (which was lacking); never mind the irrelevant arguments about sports teams–I emailed dozens around the country prior to the event and they hadn’t heard of it at all…or in two cases, only slightly aware. (“I think so…who? When?”)
And Nik’s attitude about his Grandfather falling to his death (admittedly, maybe his public attitude)
was to that dark side, as far as I’m concerned. Watched the utube of that repeatedly—poor old man, shaky, too feeble to hold onto the wire, even from a crouch, and rolling off to die. You’re also right about the exclusiveness of the coverage…and low-quality commentary. That cornball skit at the conclusion of the walk was cringeworthy: “Purpose of your visit?” “To inspire the world!” or some such drivel. To inspire them to what? Walk on highwires? To feel like jackoffs? To pull political strings to get what they want?

Liked the article, brought about points many regular viewers either don’t know about or didn’t think of. This whole ABC bullying thing unfortunately seems to be a sign of the times in that almost everything you hear these days about big media corporations and or news outlets seem to be inundated with bad politics and either right or left agendas. Real fairness, objectivity , and letting the little guy get his peace of the pie due to principle will only happen if it is on one of those agendas.

Good take on the event. I was there watching from Terrapin Point and live it was super cool. The ABC broadcast which I recorded and watched later was over the top prime time crap, except for the actual walk. The hosts couldn’t have been much bigger idiots. TV in America is produced for masses of stupid people and those hosts were right at their level. ABC was a bully in calling for blackout from the local networks of the walk. Too bad no one told them to F off and run the feed. I find it had to believe a public event on park land could be monopolized legally. Although ABC would have sued, I dont see why it would fly in court, tey were bluffing. As much as I thought the coverage blew, I will most likely watch the next super stunt they roll out.

If I didn’t know better I’d say this guy writes for the Niagara Reporter. If you’re so reluctant a tourist, stop doing it.
