Another look at the Parkway – Road to prosperity? [by Dan Davis]

OK, I am going to admit it. I am no Urban Planner. Nor am I educated in Community Development. I don’t have a law degree or an MBA. I worked in plant maintenance for 36 years, for the most part as a mechanic, but most of the last 10 of those years as a consultant to plant maintenance. I helped implement computerized maintenance systems, trained plant personnel in planning and scheduling, trained maintenance mechanics and designed maintenance storerooms.

How much faith do people place in the ability to maintain something along the river? If you view the area west of the South Bound Parkway its a disgrace. I could find some level of compromise if i could see a vision. Removal of the RMP from Finley drive south to the Park. That makes sense!

AGREED! we have such an abundance of natural wonder and we’re letting it go to waste on an underutilized road that nobody uses. My friends from Toronto and NYC can’t believe that I purchased and renovated a historic 2700sf home a block away from the Aquarium and the State Parks system for less than $150K. We live in such an incredible micro-climate and freshwater ecosystem that would be the envy of anyplace in the world….we just need people with vision and money to develop it.

The saying goes “build it and they will come.” For Niagara Falls, the saying could be “build it, they are already here.”
