$1.5 million advances removal of Falls parkway

The removal of part of the Robert Moses Parkway, from John Daly Boulevard leading into Niagara Falls State Park, moved a step closer Thursday, as the board of Empire State Development approved a $1.5 million allocation to the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to pay for the final design of the removal and reconfiguration of the road.

The one-mile section serves as an entry road to the state park for travelers approaching from the east and south. It is to be replaced with a scaled-down park road that would look less like an expressway. The money is part of the
