Ferry Avenue mission no longer allowed to offer overnight, emergency lodging

A Ferry Avenue rescue mission will no longer be allowed to offer overnight shelter to homeless men following a decision made this week by the city’s code enforcement and law departments.

In a letter delivered by the city on Wednesday, owners of the Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission located at 1023 Ferry Ave. were told to close the homeless shelter aspect of their operation as it does not comply with current zoning standards for the surrounding residential neighborhood…
