Mehta case delayed yet again

[From Niagara-Gazette.com]

A federal court judge has allowed one more postponement in the drug distribution and conspiracy case of former Falls physician Pravin Mehta.

U.S. District Court Judge William Skretny granted the delay after federal prosecutors and lawyers for the man, who was known on the streets of the Falls as “Dr. Feel Good,” again said they were close to a deal to settle the 28-count indictment that accuses Mehta of being at the center of a massive illegal prescription drug distribution operation…

[From Niagara-Gazette.com]

Mayor Paul Dyster is still not prepared to set a date for the presentation of his spending plan proposal for 2015.

Dyster said he and staff have been working diligently to formulate the plan — due to the public and city council on Oct. 1 — but still need time to find all possible revenues and cuts to expenses in order to present the best version of the budget…

Week 8: Bills vs. Jets – Game preview

[From BuffaloRumblings.com]

When the Buffalo Bills take on the New York Jets this Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, they’ll be doing so not only to reach the midway point of the 2014 season at 5-3, but to end a four-game road losing streak against the Jets, as well.

The last time the Bills beat the Jets on their home field? 2009, when then-rookie Mark Sanchez threw five interceptions to allow the Bills to eke out a 16-13 overtime win in Dick Jauron’s final year as head coach…

Eat Here! Augustus Gloop visits Taylor’s Tap & Grill

Taylor’s Tap & Grill is located at 2279 Niagara Falls Boulevard, right next door to Papa Leo’s, just past the Niagara Falls airport (if coming from Niagara Falls) in the former Dad’s Restaurant location.  As the name suggests, there are plenty of cold beers on tap and lots of good meats on the grill and quite frankly Dear Readers, THE PLACE IS AWESOME!

Taylor’s has a great pub atmosphere with plenty of food and beverage options for all tastes.  There are several televisions hanging above the bar for sports fans and lots of roomy seating throughout the dining areas, creating a comfortable environment for you to enjoy.  We visited on a busy Friday night and didn’t have any problems with our service or food, everything came out of the kitchen with speed and it all looked fantastic. Our waitress Katie was very courteous and made us feel welcome, all which helps give Taylor’s Tap & Grill that “neighborhood” bar/restaurant feel.

We ordered chicken wings as an appetizer (more on that in a minute!) followed by our dinner meals, Barbie got the Pasta Al Fresco with Chicken (fresh pasta and grilled chicken in sautéed herb fused olive oil, garlic, roasted red peppers, plum tomatoes and baby spinach) and I ordered the Tap Burger (house blend burger, American cheese, LTO on a pretzel roll).  The pasta was delicious and the portion was huge.  The burger was equally fantastic and should be considered one of the best in town.  Trust me, I’m a fat kid, I know these things.

Now let me tell ya a little about their chicken wings… you probably won’t see this phrase in most restaurant reviews, but let me utter this exclamation – HOLY SHIT! Quite possibly the best order of chicken wings I’ve ever had in my life.  Yes, Dear Readers, I said it. I remember some great wings that have come and gone in my life, and these rank up there with the best of ‘em. Huge and meaty and drenched in Taylor’s Signature BBQ sauce, I have to say it again, HOLY SHIT! I promise, if you go into Taylor’s and order their wings, you will not be disappointed! How good of a rating can I give Taylor’s on YELP? Five stars? Well, no problem, five stars it is! I don’t even have to think twice about that decision.  Their wings made me do it!

We topped off this gigantic meal with a couple of cast iron skillet cookie desserts – An oatmeal raisin cookie topped with cinnamon ice cream and caramel glaze for m’Lady and a chocolate chip cookie with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate glaze for yours truly. I felt like Augustus Gloop at Willy Wonka’s… they had to roll me outta’ the place and shoehorn me into my truck when we finally decided to go home.

Taylor’s Tap & Grill is a great new small business in Niagara that you should visit, repeatedly. Many lunch, dinner and beverage choices and all at affordable prices. Bring the family or come with your friends to watch a game, you’ll be back again and again. Tell ‘em Stenz sent ya!
