Oakwood Cemetery to celebrate national register designation

Some of the most important families in local history are “permanent residents” of Oakwood Cemetery, and that’s part of the reason for its slogan which boasts “Niagara’s history is at Oakwood.”

Aquarium of Niagara hosts annual Halloween Happening event

The Aquarium of Niagara will host its annual Halloween celebration on Saturday, October 25, 2014, from 4 to 7PM. During special event hours, admission will be $5 per person, and children who dress as a sea creature will receive free admission.

Expect spooky family fun for when Halloween Happenings comes to the Aquarium of Niagara, 701 Whirlpool Street in Niagara Falls. There will be plenty of seasonal excitement including a pumpkin treasure hunt, trick-or-treat stations, a Halloween craft table, and a special Halloween themed sea lion show at 4:30 and 6:00PM.

Special trophies will be awarded to those voted “Best Aquatic Costume,” and “Best Overall Costume.” Costumes are welcomed and encouraged!

A Niagara Falls woman who was arraigned Thursday in Niagara County Court was one of four people arrested after a traffic stop April 26 in the Falls, when police discovered about four ounces of cocaine and a loaded gun in the vehicle.

Domonique S. Hilson, 19, of Michigan Avenue, pleaded not guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana…
