Russell is our 17yr old fighter that has been battling Ewings Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer found mostly in children & young adults. He was diagnosed at the age of 12 when they found tumors on 2 of his ribs and 1 on his skull. Russell received chemo and surgical resection and completed his treatment in April 2010. He recently relapsed and now has 3 tumors. One on his rib, collar bone & spine. Russell is such a strong, smart, loving and giving kid. He was recently accepted and is currently attending SUNY Fredonia and trying to push forward to live his life and pursue his dreams. I can’t stress enough the strength, passion and determination he puts forth to accomplish his goals while commuting back and forth to Buffalo to receive treatment at Roswell. He has inspired me so much in the time I have known him. He is the 2nd out of 4 children and is the brother every sibling loves. Always there when you need him and always looking out for them.
His mom, Sri, is a cook at The Western Door Steakhouse & is not only a single mother of four but also doing the best she can to provide Russell with the best medical treatment as well as put him through college. He has such a passion for learning & she does her best to support him in all he does. The bond they share is one like I’ve never seen. Selfless, supporting, loving with a faith in hope that is out of this world.
We are asking our friends, family & community to come together & help support our fighter, Russell. Any amount helps & for those interested we will also be hosting a fundraising benefit as well on Sunday November 16th at the Stone Room at Hyde Park. Located right next to the Ice skating pavilion.
