Niagara Falls City Council cuts tax hike, restores job cuts in proposed 2015 budget

The Niagara Falls City Council has adopted a proposed budget with a tax increase that comes in under the state’s property tax cap threshold and restores all jobs cut in Mayor Paul Dyster’s proposed spending plan for 2015.

The council adopted 82 amendments to Dyster’s proposed plan cutting consulting lines, moving casino funds into the general fund to pay for some lines previously covered as part of the regular city budget and slashing overtime lines to reduce the tax levy by $702,000 in what was often a confused, hectic and tense amendment process…
