A proposal for the city to purchase a small vacant lot on Third Street got the backing of the city’s Planning Board on Wednesday night.
The Community Development Department wants the city to acquire 425 Third St. to create a pedestrian walkway that officials said they believe would encourage growth and development in the adjacent area by providing access to the alley between Third and Fourth streets.
