The first ever 3rd Street Block Party

Live local music, business & fun!   Kicking off the summer with some local flavor

This Saturday May 24th at 2pm  –  400 Block Street of 3rd street Niagara Falls

3rd st. block party

Block Parties signal summer in the neighborhood. Downtown Niagara Falls welcomes millions of visitors from around the globe each year. At the same time, there is a growing effort to make the downtown core a place for both locals and visitors to come together for a unique experience, as well as a launching pad into the rest of Niagara Falls. The Third Street Block Party on May 24, 2015 is a way to offer local flavor to the world and hopefully the start of a new tradition.

Zak Ward, a Niagara Falls native, will play live music in the 400 Block parking lot (next to 444 Third Street) from 2 to 4 pm. Erin Sydney Welsh will play the Third Street Tap Room from 3 to 5 pm.  SnobKnockers will play outside Wine on Third at 5 pm. Throughout the day, visitors can check out the brand new 24 Below Art Gallery & Café, grab a pint at the Third Street Tap Room, stop by Zaika Indian Cuisine, Wine on Third or the Pizza Bistro, or just hang out and play outdoor yard games in the 400 Block Parking Lot.

Local developers have been renovating mixed use buildings along Third Street recently, converting long term vacancy to market rate apartments and new storefronts. Month after month, small improvements continue to build on each other. A contractor working on a façade. An artist painting a fire hydrant. A wall mural with a wheat-pasted dare-devil.  New residents moving in. An art gallery and café opens. Now, a local block party. A vibrant neighborhood is not born over night. It also cannot be manufactured with plans and renderings. In a way, the authenticity of a neighborhood needs to be cultivated on its own, and then only survives with years of support.

2015 is an exciting time in Niagara Falls, and May 24th is the perfect day to stop by for a neighborhood block party.
