Again this year, the popular Friday Summer Tours at Historic Holy Trinity have begun.
Each Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m.,the public is invited to tour the 1900s era Roman Catholic Church built on the east side of Niagara Falls for the Polish immigrants who migrated here to work in the newly developed industries that followed the building of the Niagara Power Plant.
After enjoying dinner at a local eatery, the public can view the interior of this beautiful edifice that is listed on the Local, State and National Registers of Historic Places. Especially beautiful are the stain glass windows which can be seen in the light of the setting sun.
Built in 1906, the church was constructed by the Braas Brothers of native stone taken from the building of theHydraulic Canal. The parish closed in 2008 and the complex was purchased from the Diocese by a not-for-profit group called Niagara Heritage of Hope and Service aka Historic Holy Trinity which works to preserve the structures, service the poor of the community and hold special events such as lectures, concerts and other public programs in the five building complex.
The tours will continue each Friday from June 5th until September 25th
(closed 4th of July and September 4 for the Labor Day weekend).
