Legislative update from The Niagara USA Chamber

[Press release from The Chamber]

The Niagara USA Chamber is proud of our legislative advocacy on behalf of our members.  As many of you know the 2015 Legislative session is coming to an end in Albany.  One issue which we feel strongly about is the two percent property tax cap.  Below is a statement the Chamber has issued in regard to the cap.

As the current legislative session winds down in Albany, the Niagara USA Chamber is pleased with a tentative agreement between Governor Andrew Cuomo and the elected officials of the Assembly and Senate regarding the 2% property tax cap.  The Chamber has been a vocal supporter of the cap since its inception and we are glad to hear there is the possibility of extending the cap for another four years.  This cap has greatly reduced growth in property taxes and has been a welcome relief to residents and businesses throughout the state.  While the Niagara USA Chamber would prefer to see relief for its members in the form of a permanent cap, we are pleased with a four year extender.  On behalf of our members we urge all elected officials to support this agreement and pass legislation extending the 2% property tax cap.
