Marissa Ieraci-Tomlin, owner of Gemini’s Closet Consignment Shop at 2027 Military Road, will hold a fundraising event for Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara on March 4 (from 11 am to 7 pm) and 5 (10 am to 6 pm), 2016. 10% of all sales will benefit programs and services for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities supported by the agency. As a special way to acknowledge her customers, shoppers will be offered a 10% discount on all sales during this time.
The two-day event will kick-off local and national celebrations of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, an opportunity to promote respect for and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in everyday life.
Ieraci-Tomlin was presented with the opportunity to take over Gemini’s Closet last September. She immediately saw the store as a great opportunity, remarking “Niagara Falls was in need of a consignment boutique (because who doesn’t want to find great outfits for a great price?). I envisioned everything I could do with the store and dove right in. Fortunately, I have a huge support system: my husband, parents, in-laws, grandparents and siblings have all helped in whatever way they can. I enjoy helping women find the right outfits for date night, girls find the right dresses for their high school dances, even kids finding pieces for their Halloween costumes. Gemini’s Closet offers gently used name brand clothing, shoes and accessories at a fraction of the retail prices, so anyone can find a great deal!”
“The choice to host a fundraiser for people with disabilities was easy as I am always looking for ways to grow and I truly believe that opportunities are unlimited. I am so excited to be able to work with such a great organization,” exclaimed Ieraci-Tomlin.
For more than 60 years, Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara has been providing training, employment, service coordination, exceptional parenting, recreation (youth and adult), residential, geriatric, fine arts, horticulture therapy and health-related supports for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, and their families, throughout Niagara County.
