Fair Winter Weather Facilitates Early Placement of Boat Docks Fish Stocking to Commence Early

[Press Release]

Today, The Department of Public Works announced that the fishing dock at LaSalle Waterfront Park (6611 Buffalo Avenue) and the canoe/kayak launch at the Griffon Boat Docks (9551 Buffalo Avenue) have been installed nearly a month ahead of schedule. “Since there was relatively little ice in local waterways, we were able to put the docks
in early this year,” said Director of Public Works John Caso. “Last year we didn’t get the docks in until May 1st. With the increased numbers of kayakers and canoers we’ve seen in the City, we wanted to make sure we got the docks in as soon as possible.”

In addition to the dock placement, the department wishes to notify anglers that the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will be stocking Hyde Park Lake and Gill Creek on Friday April 8, 2015 at 11:00 am.
The use of non-motorized water craft like canoes and kayaks is permitted in Hyde Park Lake, using a gravel launch accessible off Robbins Drive behind Sal Maglie Stadium.
