A company that recycles kitchen countertops plans to create 100 new high-paying jobs at a former Union Carbide property that the city purchased last year in an economic development gamble.

DEC investigating 500-gallon oil spill in Cayuga Creek

A large oil spill, about 500 gallons of which is believed to be waste oil, was contained in Cayuga Creek by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation on Tuesday, but it still may take several weeks to clean up.

Two people in a disabled boat drifted close to the brink of the Horseshoe Falls on Sunday, before parks police could get the water level lowered on the Niagara River and rescue the boaters.
