Press Release: Body Found

On 12-6-2016, at 3:00 p.m. Niagara Falls Detectives received information that a body was located in the overgrown brush behind Cataract Steel 1973 Mackenna Ave. The body had been covered by brush pulled from the area as well as various types of debris that is commonly dumped illegally in this area.

Crime Scene Detectives responded to conduct the recovery and collection of relevant evidence. The body was sent to ECMC where an autopsy conducted this morning showed the victim died of multiple stab wounds.

The body had been there for some time and visual identification is not possible. Due to the amount of decay, fingerprints were unobtainable. Dental records and DNA will be used in an attempt to identify the victim with results expected at a later date. The body appears to be that of an adult white male.

Several people have been interviewed concerning this incident, including a person of interest. The investigation is continuing and the detectives will not give speculative information on the victim’s identity and will await forensic results before releasing the name.

At this time there will be no other comment regarding this case.
