Video: GM Kern excited about Niagara Power season

The warm weather, not to mention some Spring Training highlights on ESPN, had us thinking baseball, so it was a great surprise to see Cal Kern of the Niagara Power drop by The Hub.

Kern chatted with us for this video, talking quickly about his team’s plans for the summer and the upcoming New York Collegiate Baseball League all-star game the team will host. Video: Wild finish as Niagara tops Rider at Gallagher Center

Did it count, or didn’t it?

We don’t do much in terms of game coverage here at NiagaraHub.com, but Saturday’s wild finish at the Gallagher Center merits a quick story and a look at the final video highlights.

After trailing by double digits in the second half, the Purple Eagles used a barrage of 3-pointers to draw even, then took the lead on a great pass from freshman star Juan’ya Green.

The fun wasn’t over, though.

It looked like Rider star Ryan Thompson put a dagger in Niagara as he buried a three as the horn sounded.

But did he get rid of it before the clock hit double zero? And did the clock start on time?

Take a look yourself (and we apologize for the unsteady hand).

In the end, the officials ruled it no basket, and the Purple Eagles finished off a 2-0 weekend with an 84-82 victory.
