The Old Stone Chimney, An Argument Against Relocation [by Andrea Galyn]

I am in receipt of the feasibility study for the Relocation of the Steadman House Chimney, dated July 18, 2011, conducted by the engineering firm of International Chimney Corporation.

This professionally prepared study states that the deterioration noted in the 1900 photo of the chimney hints that repairs and reconstruction had taken place, possibly not with original material nor to the original dimensions. During the last rebuild in 1942, the mason appears to have troweled on a mortar mix and then allowed the stone

Another look at the Parkway – Road to prosperity? [by Dan Davis]

OK, I am going to admit it. I am no Urban Planner. Nor am I educated in Community Development. I don’t have a law degree or an MBA. I worked in plant maintenance for 36 years, for the most part as a mechanic, but most of the last 10 of those years as a consultant to plant maintenance. The AllyWay: A new generation of Niagara Falls leaders

(Editor’s note: This is the first of a series of excerpts from the blog of former Niagara Falls City Council candidate Alicia Laible. Sporadically, Laible’s musings will be found here at NiagaraHub.com, but you can check her new blog out by clicking here.)

I (Miss Ally) consider myself part of a new generation of Niagara Falls community leaders. A movement of innovative thinkers who envision a greater future for the region.
