Hundreds of local citizens showed up with posters and chef hats to
give the Best of the Road judges -- Mike and Brian of the Road Bros -- a
rousing welcome on Thursday, June 21.
Mike and Brian were in town on their second stop of a six-town
national tour to help determine the winner for the Best for Food small town
in America. Lewiston beat 176 larger communities in an online voting
contest, qualifying as a finalist. The campaign to get Lewiston to the top
was an all volunteer effort organized by local citizens who have no direct
connection to Lewiston restaurants, but do have strong belief Lewiston is
deserving of the title.
Thanks goes to all the volunteers, local supporters, and the gracious
and generous restaurants who helped showcase Lewiston. The Whirlpool
Jetboat also let them ride the rapids and the Barton Hill provided
complimentary accommodations. Organizers also want to thank the local
press, particularly the Sentinel, Gazette and YNN for the great coverage.

Here are some press highlights you don't want to miss:

Mike and Brian are also competing for a $10,000 prize for best videos
and blogs. The number of "views" (the people who click on the videos) is
one of the criteria used to determine popularity. So it's important that
we get as many people as possible to view their video here:

Please put that video on your Facebook page or website and send emails
to all your friends (or just forward this email) to encourage people to
click on it and view it. It all helps!
Meanwhile, we'll be anxiously waiting for the announcement of the
winner of the Best for Food contest on July 17 at the Annual Destination
Marketing Association in Seattle, Washington. The announcement will be
made anytime between 2:15-3:45pm. If Lewiston wins, you will hear from
us immediately.

The Travel Channel will air an one-hour special on the contest on July
25 at 8pm, available on your high-def digital cable channel.
