Niagara University to use $1 million gift for scholarship fund

Judge says Phallen trial could last months during Monday hearing

A Niagara County Court judge says it could take as long as three months to try the kidnapping, torture and sexual abuse cases against Lewiston businessman Iver Jay Phallen.
Judge Sara Sheldon told attorneys in the case on Monday she had set aside that time, beginning on Sept. 8, because the two grand jury indictments against Phallen contain 209 separate charges…

Restaino turns his city charter recommendations over to Falls lawmakers

Niagara Falls residents blast Water Board over ‘crazy’ fee

The Niagara Falls Water Board got an earful from some residents Thursday about an “availability” fee that property owners pay even if their water service is shut off.
The Water Board charges $20 per month to any property that has the potential of receiving water service but does not, meaning some shell out $240 a year even if not one drop of water runs through their water line…
